Wonders never will cease. Yesterday we had a call for a copy of “The History of Pithole,” written by that celebrated and most popular author of modern times “Krowcuss.” Almost immediately a flood of recollections appear to sweep over us. The memory of many days and nights of hard labor working off the edition on a hand press – sweating and swearing – appeared before us. Also the memory of when the account for printing and binding came to be settled, we were $500 worse off than nothing, and only the remembrance of the hard work on an old Franklin press remained – the rest had “vanished from sight like a beautiful dream.” Upon receiving 50 cents in payment thereof for the aforesaid work, we rejoiced exceedingly and with a muchness, and immediately invested 25 cents of it in one of Alf. Myers’ “hot Scotch” punches. A few copies are left, which can be had cheap.
