Oil Wells on Dunkard Creek

Daily Evening Reporter (Washington, Pa.), November 29, 1877

The proprietors of the successful wells on Dunkard Creek, in Greene County, are now securing the right of way with the intention of carrying their oil through a two and one-half inch main to their refineries, which they propose to construct on the line of the Southwest Pennsylvania Railway, some two miles south of Uniontown. The right of way has been secured through Greene County. They are now commencing at this end of the line, and up to Saturday last were succeeding admirably in securing the right of way. The gentlemen are negotiating with Mr. Elijah Hutchinson for five acres of land, lying contiguous to the Southwest Pennsylvania Railway, upon which they will erect their refineries, in order to have the railroad accessible for the shipment of their oil. – Brownsville Clipper
